GMRS Radio – Great for Camping and Hiking
If you have ever been out of cell phone range when camping or hiking, then you can appreciate the benefits of having a GMRS radio. These grownup versions of the walkie talkies you played with as a kid operate on the radio band and are capable of broadcasting from a range of 2 miles to around 30 miles, depending on which model you choose. The GMRS radio is a very handy tool to have. You do not have to have a contract to use one, but you do need to acquire an FCC operator’s license. With a cell phone, all too often you find yourself in a remote area with no service.
