what can you do with myrrh resin? say you have a jar of myrrh resin sitting around. How do you use it? what can you use it for?
This is the actual solid myrrh resin – not the essential oil.

There are 4 things I use myrrh for

1) Incense. I remove some live embers from my wood stove, place them into a cast iron bowl and sprinkle the myrrh on top. I hate those little commercial charcoal things, since they often send sparks flying and are usually lit for hours.

2) Tincture. I crush the resin, steep it in vodka for 6 weeks, strain and use a few drops in water as an antiseptic mouthwash. You’ll notice myrrh is added to a number of different toothpaste brands. You can also use the tincture as an antiseptic spray for cuts.

3) Salve. I infuse myrrh in oil for 6 weeks, strain then add beeswax to make an antiseptic salve for cuts and scrapes.

4) Natural preservative. I also sometimes add infused myrrh oil to other herbal salves and creams to extend their shelf life.

Since the child was a "king", the assumption was that he had come to his throne through the death of his father. The myrrh was intended to honor his deceased parent.

But it had a greater significance. It represented that even at his birth, his death was to be more important then his birth, life or teachings.

Is the story of the Christ family exchanging their myrrh for some Christmas sweaters apocryphal?

I’ve got homework on this and I have no idea….

Each item is symbolic:

Gold symbolizes royalty, that Jesus was to be called the King of Kings.

Frankincense was a kind of incense that was burned during holy religious ceremonies. It symbolizes the religious importance and holy nature of Jesus.

Myrrh was used to embalm the dead, and it symbolizes the fact that Jesus would die for the sins of the people.

Does myrrh smell like pine trees in a way?

Or any kind of forest smell.

It smells herbal, fresh, and more like balsam or cedar than pine to me, but not all that much. It smells a great deal like tansy. Smells are notoriously hard to define, and are perceived differently by different people. It could be described as forest-like, yes.

I just bought a candle of Frankincence and Myrrh but on the back of the pack it says "an oriental blend of clove,cinnamon,amber & cedarwood".
How can they call it Frankincence and Myrrh,when it doesnt contain any?

You should bring it back for a refund.
