What is the best site for frankincense and myrrh candles?

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

I love the scents, especscially during Christmas. The candles are hard to find. Which sites or brands do you like best?
I love Yankee Candles, but they do not have that scent. I even wrote to therm about it asking for it.
Right now, I’m buring Balsam & Cedar.

Good question! I would like to know this answer too, did you try the Abbey Press? They might have something.

Ancient Egyptian Herbal/Medicinal Dictionary?

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

I’m looking for the original ancient Egyptian names of herbs and food items in common use at the time. For instance, what did were their words for onions, beer, frankincense, myrrh, honey, etc? I’m still hoping there’s some kind of comprehensive online resource available that I just haven’t been able to locate.

There is really not much to be found here are just 2-3 sites:

If I open an online Witchcraft Supply Shop in McKinney Texas How interested would you be?

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

I will have a wide range of supplies at very reasonable prices so that you can buy 2-3 times as much as you would normally buy for your cupboard. I plan on having REAL Essential Oils as well as jewelry, swords & daggers, Chalices, Herbs (Culinary & other like Wolfsbane), REAL Sandalwood chips & Powder, Genuine & abslolutely to die for Aloeswood (so very expensive, but well worth the price), Resin Incenses (Frankincense & Myrrh, Benzoin, Elemi Gum, Dragon’s Blood all of the Copals as well as several other interesting resins you may have heard of but were not able to buy). I will also be able to get REAL Dead Sea Salts for you to make your own bath preparations.

Everything that I will be having on my online store will be the REAL DEAL and will not only serve the DFW Area, but the entire country as well. That means if you see something on my site that you like & want mom to buy it for you…well there ya go! I look forward to your feedback.

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thank you all for taking the time to answer my question. I am sorry I was not really clear on the kind of store it will be. I am opening an ONLINE store, but it will be located (I have to store my stock somewhere) here in McKinney Texas. I would not open a "Stick & Bricks" shop until I see how everything goes with the webstore. As for harrassment, if there were to be any, I am not afraid of showing a trouble maker to the door nor am I afraid of posting either the FIRST AMENDMENT or the 1985 Supreme Court Ruling that makes WICCA a legal religion. Also remember one thing, if there were protesters at my store. The news media would be there. Honney let me tell you this, those protesters would help me rack up business with all of the FREE advertising they would actually be doing! Golly! I love America and the free enterprise system!

Blessed be,

Sunshine

The idea would be a good one, but its important to find a niche market. There are plenty of online stores. What would you offer that others dont? Things I look for as a Wiccan for 8 years. Inespensive Herbs, cloaks for short witches, Cauldrons that don’t rust, and non fiction and fiction books ( very few sites have both fiction and non fiction books) Secure sites for credit card ordering, good shipping prices. Also a good selection of Runes and Tarot.
If you are crafty you might think about making bags for runes and tarot as well.

what is myrrh and frankincense?

What is the equivalent value of the gold, myrrh and frankincense the Magi brought to Jesus?

Friday, September 18th, 2009

In modern day money, $US, what was the worth of the gold, the myrrh and frankincense the Magi brought to baby Jesus, the King that was born?
Surely some manuscript would exist to at least indicate how much a king was worthy to receive in terms of amount of gold, myrrh and frankincense. I don’t believe the Magi traveled all that way to give Jesus Christ a $100 gift, even more than a $10,000 gift, surely a king was fit for much more than that. How much more though? Could it be in the way of millions?

As no amount of any of these was mentioned, there is no way of knowing.

What do Frankincense and Myrrh smell like?

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Is it that smell they have in church when they swing that incense burner?
We burn oils in one of those burner things. We have aniseed and parma violet. I just wondered what the smell is similar to because I saw the oils for sale.
Yeah but is it a herby smell, fruity smell whatever. Is it pleasant?
Aniseed is very strong and stinks the whole place out. We can even smell it outside the front door.

Frankincense has a sweet, piercing smell. Myrrh has a darker, richer smell. That’s as close as I can come to describing it.

And Teawitch is incorrect; both frankincense and myrrh, in their pure form, are tree resins, NOT anything to do with the roots, at least if I recall correctly. And while oils can be infused with the scent of those resins, frankincense and myrrh are not themselves oils.

Paglolo’op ng bata

Monday, September 14th, 2009

A little boy apparently either offended or delighted a Spirit or Wight along the rice fields, falling mysteriously ill in consequence. This is his mother seeking pardon with frankincense and myrrh, and cleansing the boy in the process.

“Lo’op” (not loop) is a ritual of cleansing a person or place of negative or disruptive energies or spirits.

What can be said about the relationship between incense and folklore?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Was it mentioned in mythology? What about folklore are certain incenses burned for reasons, such as Frankincense, Myrrh, Patcholi, Sandalwood, Pine, etc.

Well, the witch Medea used a mixture of aromatic, alkaloid containing oils derived from pine and cedar to intoxicate a dragon once. And the Hindus believe that incense, which is the food of the gods, can’t be consumed by the gods until they are renderred into smoke by being fed to Agni (i.e. they are burned, as Agni is the god of fire).
