Is the story of the Christ family exchanging their myrrh for some Christmas sweaters apocryphal?

LOL I don’t know that the weather called for sweaters over there.

I have it on good authority that they regifted
My daughter was pondering this question. And so I am now. Would they have kept them or given them away?
Most probably it was used to fund the journey of Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus to Egypt because of the threat from Herod.
and chamomile in sachet bag would that be effective in obtaining positive properties?
Certainly. Aroma of herbs help to clear the mind and are a positive influence to make your day better. Keep the herbs as fresh as you can, replacing them a couple times a week or when you feel necessary.
This is not a racist type question. I’ve just noticed that in almost every portrayal of the 3 wise men, ONE (it’s always only one) is always black, but I can’t find the scripture that states/supports this.
There isn’t scripture. Nor is there scripture that says their names are Melchior, Balthazar and Kaspar. However, the legends that grew around them had one coming from Persia, one from India, and one from Auxum (present day Ethiopia), which at the time, were all exotic to the Greco-Roman world, yet still recognized as centers of civilizations in which the art of astrology had been developed to a high degree.

well you see i’m doing an essay and i need to know how does he uses compare and contrast. like give a line were it shows the compare and contrast. thank you very much!! i appreciate so so so so much ![]()
I haven’t read the story in many years, and I don’t have a copy handy.
Compare the gifts they gave each other (the watch fob and the hair do-dad). Were they thinking of themselves or each other?
Contrast that against the way Christmas is today. Do most of us really care about the spirit of giving as did the characters?
Wouldn’t we all like to experience such selfless love?
This is a lovely story by O’Henry and one of his most famous. For a lighter side of O’Henry I would suggest The Ransom of Red Chief.
I’m speculating, that Jesus’ parents took these expensive gifts [given exclusively to kings and other royalty] sold them, and used the $ gained to pay for their stay in Egypt, after Joseph and Mary were warned in a dream, to get out of there and flee to Egypt, before King Herod murdered them all.
I am directing a live nativity at my church and need to find three things for the wise men to hold to represent the three gifts. Any ideas would help!
The gold could be represented by some of those candy "coins" wrapped in gold wrapping (which the children can have as treats after the performance!) or a brick or box wrapped in gold foil, which you should be able to find at a craft store. The Frankincense and Myrrh are both perfumes, of a sort, so a large perfume bottle might do for each of them.
So last night I had a strange dream where the name Melchoir appeared to me. Today I Googled it and found out that Melchoir was one of the 3 wise men who visited Jesus, any chance this dream has some kind of hidden meaning. (I’m really not a religious person, and I had no idea who Melchoir was until a couple minutes ago.)
Melchior is a name you might have heard without paying attention to it. The three wise men’s names are used periodically, so your unconscious mind may have picked it up.
